Memories of the day…: I know it’s a bit cliché to say that your wedding day is one of the best days of your life…but in our case, it truly was! The feeling of being surrounded by all of the people that you love the most in the world is really something special and we were so lucky to have had a perfect day. Luckily, the weather was also cooperative that day, as much of our wedding took place outdoors at a lovely farm in a hundred-year-old barn just outside of Chatham. We were so thrilled to have Michelle Belsky as our photographer, as she immediately put us at ease and made the process of having hundreds of photos of us taken throughout the day completely painless – in fact, it was really fun! Her enthusiasm for the beautiful photos she was taking and the lighting made us really excited too, and I’m sure resulted in more natural shots of us truly enjoying the day. We are so thrilled to have such gorgeous photos and to be able to reflect on an amazing moment in our lives. Thanks again to Renaissance Studios for capturing our day!
Did you have a “theme”?: Rustic, vintage feel with a hint of glam.
Vendor #1 Name: Retro Suites hotel
Vendor #1 Notes: Our wedding party and immediate family stayed at the Retro Suites for the duration of the weekend. The owners’ artistic vision and passion for collectibles provided an exciting venue for our group to stay and a unique backdrop for the guys’ photos. One of the highlights was doing a collective “hotel room crawl”, as each abode has a different theme.
Vendor #2 Name: Purple Pansy Flowers
Vendor #2 Notes: Trish at Purple Pansy flowers made my beautiful bouquet and Tom’s boutonnière for the day – a creamy floral mix with some sprigs of dried lavender to match the handmade, lace-adorned bridesmaid bouquets and lavender bouts for the guys.
Vendor #3 Name: Casabella Restaurant
Vendor #3 Notes: Casabella did a marvellous job catering our wedding. When working at a barn with limited power and no kitchen, things could get interesting. But Lydia and her amazing team did an excellent job of realizing our vision of a relaxed, marché-style meal with the most incredible food. It’s just a shame Tom and I didn’t actually get to eat enough of it…
Vendor #4 Name: William Street Café
Vendor #4 Notes: We had an image of a very simply, elegant and creamy cake for our wedding cake and the talented bakers at William Street Café did a perfect job making the most heavenly cake, to accompany our mostly hand-made desserts in the dessert buffet.
Vendor #5 Name: With Love Bridal Boutique (Ottawa)
Vendor #5 Notes: My wedding dress (designed by Paloma Blanca) was purchased from With Love Bridal Boutique in Stittsville, just outside of Ottawa. The helpful staff went above and beyond to help me find the dress I was looking for. I couldn’t have been happier with their service and my lovely dress! Tom liked it too…
